Elizabeth Solomon MS, RD is the Director of Nutrition Policies and Programs in the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention at the New York City (NYC) Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (Health Department). In this capacity she oversees initiatives, programs and policy development that aim to promote accessibility and consumption of healthy foods and limit availability and overconsumption of unhealthy foods. This work includes the National Salt and Sugar Reduction Initiative, nutrition incentive programs that help make fruits and vegetables more affordable, food education, and technical support for the New York City Food Standards and other city food policies. Elizabeth has worked at the NYC Health Department on food and nutrition programming and policies for over a decade. She is a registered dietitian and received a Master of Science in Nutrition Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Elizabeth lives in Brooklyn, New York with her husband and two children.
